Building and Provisioning Virtual Desktop

Four types of pools

  • Manual
  • Automated with Full VM
  • Automated with Linked-clone VM
  • TS/RDS pools
Order of activities in building and provisioning a desktop VM
  • Install OS, Join Domain, Enable Remote Desktop, Optimize for performance and storage
  • Install VM Tools
  • Install View Agent
  • Create Pool

Optimizing Windows Virtual Machines



























Build and provision a Manual Desktop Pool

Establish a connection to vCenter from View.

Specify concurrent operation limits












Install View agent on the "golden image" client to deploy



























In View create a manual pool









Select Floating desktops









Desktop source from a vCenter









vCenter detected and selected







Specify Pool ID, display name and folder.









Specify Pool settings









Add VM to the pool.  Only use compatible VMs.






Once Pool is configured, allow users to use the pool.
