Operating System Requirements

View 5.0 Transfer server requirements

View Transfer server 5.1-5.2 requirements

Installing View transfer Server

Transfer server needs to be a VM running on a vCenter server that is already connected to a View Connection server.

Let's install Transfer Server!

Transfer Server VM needs to use SCSI Logic Parallel controller.  The default LSI Logic SAS controller is not supported by Transfer server.

Select Transfer Server installation option.

Settings to be used by Apache web service

Allow Windows firewall to open necessary ports.

Configuring View Transfer Server and the Transfer Server Repository

After successful installation of Transfer server, in View Administrator, add new Transfer server. This establishes connection from Transfer server to View Connection server.

Note that transfer server repository is not configured.  Users cannot checkout View Composer desktops until this is set.

Transfer server needs to be in maintenance mode to edit the settings for the repository. This prevents users from checking out.  Once repository is set, publish the repository.  Ensure that pool supporting the Local Mode exists.

Note that Automated pool with Floating desktops do not support local mode.  Dedicated desktop assignment is required.

Managing Local Mode VMs

Local Mode VM managed with policies.

Polices can be set at the pool or globally.

Installing the VMware View Client with Local Mode.

-
Two versions of View Client exists.  One supports Local Mode.

View Client with Local Mode will update existing View Client installation. There is no need to uninstall the non-Local Mode installation.

Installation will give you option to modify or repair the existing View Client installation to add the Local Mode feature.

Note: View Client with Local Mode feature cannot be installed in a VM.  This prevents nested VM within a VM.

Monitoring Local Mode VMs

Local Mode session are displayed in Monitoring screen.

Initiate Replication - instructs client to initiate replication of local information to the server.

roolback - Rolls back the client to the version of the client on the server.
